Deniz Muzaffer Gökmen
I was born in Istanbul in 1964, graduated from high school in Gölcük, Kocaeli and during which i spent all my time around the sea with my friends. My passion for the sea started from childhood. I finished my education in 1986, graduating from Dokuz Eylül University. Worked as a sailing and windsurfing instructor in the summers during this time and then started working in my family company Tabosan. I retired in 2010.
Began scuba diving in 2002 as a Cmas 1 star, in 2005 got both Cmas and Padi Advance open water certifications. I started underwater photography in 2010 with a Panasonic compact camera and continued with a Sony compact and with Canon starting in 2014 respectively. In my dives, i used a Canon G12 and starting from 2015, a Canon 100 D. Today I am using a Canon 80D with Sea&Sea housing and flashes. My macro lenses are 60 and 100mm’s and my wide lens is Tokina 10-17mm.
I received several awards, especially in macro category, in National and International competitions. I won a gold medal in macro category in Kemer Underwater Days, placed 2nd in Macro Portfolio and Jury special award in thematic category in Marmara Photo&Video festival and most recently got a silver medal in macro category in 2017 TSSF Altınpalet (Golden paddle) Turkey Championship .
